We all know I am a sucker for a beautiful dress to photograph, so you can imagine how happy I am as Highschool Graduation season approaches. Photographing highschool seniors / grads is So. Much. Fun. Not only because of the amazing gowns, but also because it is just such an exciting time in a young person's life!
Just like any of my sessions, I always meet with the grad before the shoot to chat about how she is dreaming about being photographed. I like to hear about the dress in advance, and also about anything else that inspires her - is she into flowers? dancing? art? Is she sporty? adventurous? What are her favourite things in life, and what are her favourite things about herself? I love finding this stuff out and figuring out if I can incorporate the inspiration into the styling of the photoshoot.
These grad portrait sessions always remind me how fun and how important it is to be playful. Not only when making photos, but in life!
"I wear the Universe backwards.
I imagine putting stars in my coffee and sugar in the sky.
I imagine fishing in the clouds and watching the sun hide behind lakes.
I'm too busy dancing with my imagination to even tiptoe with reality for a second."
