I have always been a big fan of Vanity Fair magazine and one of my fave projects that they do is a "Backstage at the Oscars" portrait studio, usually with one of their key photographers. Vanity Fair works with some of the top portrait photographers in the world, so they are always amazing.
I was super inspired by Mark Seliger's Oscar portraits in 2015 (not to mention his 2014 and 2016 sets!) and after seeing that collection an idea stuck in my head. I decided to to try a self-imposed lighting challenge, aiming to emulate the classic Hollywood portrait from the days of Rita Hayworth or (early) Liz Taylor and then fast forward to today's style of Hollywood Glam.
Two of my beautiful friends - also hair & makeup artists who work at my studio regularly - Linda & Mel transformed into starlets for the day. They wore dresses from my studio wardrobe (available to anyone who comes for a portrait session) they did one another's makeup and Mel did hair, I had way too much fun with lights, and here is what we came up with!
