I am so excited to be heading to Vancouver Island at the end of February for a little get-away and a visit with the Hubz' side of the family. While we're there, we'll be taking the famjam to see our dear friend Matthew MacKenzie's play, BEARS. This play, produced by Punctuate! Theatre, has been winning all sorts of awards, including Best New Canadian Play (from Toronto Theatre Critics) and it is so deserving. I have seen it several times and I am stoked to see it again at the Belfry - it has moved me every single time.
In January 2018, while BEARS was in rehearsals and it's opening week in Toronto, I had the pleasure of working in residence with the company for a few days. It was such an enjoyable experience, photographing this incredible group! The artists involved in this show, from the playwright to the director and the choreographer, set & lighting designer, sound designer, actors, dancers, and everyone else involved are such an insanely talented team.
And the show is chock-full of beautiful movement, so although I have no background in theatre, I felt a little like I was 'home' while I was shooting during rehearsals & performances.
BEARS opened this weekend at the Belfry - wishing the whole Punctuate! crew an amazing opening week!
